Google Classroom FAQs
Common Google Classroom Questions
Q: Using Google Forms, if a student hits "submit" too early, can I reset the quiz?
A: If you have limited the amount of times a student can complete a quiz to one, then you cannot reset the same quiz. However, you can make an identical copy of the quiz in Google Forms and share that link individually with the student. To make a copy, click on the three dots in the top right-hand corner of your quiz and choose “Make a Copy.” If you have not limited the amount of times a student can complete a quiz to one, then you can simply tell them to retake the original quiz.
Q: How do I set up the quiz to grade itself?
A: In the “Settings” screen (which is accessed by clicking on the gear in the top right-hand corner of the Form), click on the “Quizzes” option at the top of the screen and select the option to “Make this a Quiz.” Begin typing your questions and, at the bottom of each question, click on the blue “Answer Key” icon and indicate the correct answer. You can also add feedback for the students in the Answer Key. Once the students submit their completed quiz, it will automatically grade itself according to the Answer Key you have made.
Q: If I create a Google Form outside of Google Classroom, how do I insert it?
A: In Google Classroom, click the plus sign in the bottom right corner, and then select “Create Assignment.” Give the assignment a title, such as Unit 1 Quiz, and then click on the Google Drive icon shaped like a triangle. Select the Google Form and then choose which classes you would like to assign the quiz to, and then click “Assign.” Note: The Google Form needs to be stored in the teacher’s SBAConnect account’s Drive. Option 2: On your Google Form, select the icon that looks like an eye at the top right-hand corner. That will give you a preview of the finalized form. Copy the link in the address bar. Then, go into Google Classroom and create an assignment. When it gives you the option to add attachments, click on the icon that looks like a chain link and paste the link to the form there. This will link the Google Form to your Google Classroom.
Q: Some students are saying they do not have permission to get to a quiz. How do I fix this?
A: The student is probably logged in with a personal Gmail account instead of their SBAConnect account. Have them sign out and sign back in.
Q: What is the best way to tell the students to set up their iPad?
A: We are finding that the following are the best practices:
- Individual Google Apps - have the students use Google Chrome, Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides on their iPad
- Have the student only use SBAConnect.org gmail accounts within these apps
